This page is our little Tory's life page. We have decided to keep a very special little baby girl Yorkie. This page will be updated from time to time as Tory grows and changes. Sometimes photo's will be added, sometimes commentary will be added. We just wanted to share Tory's life with our friends and family.
Tory was born on June 1, 2010. When she was born she was so tiny we almost didn't even see her. Tory was 1.5 ounces at birth! That is so tiny you could hardly feel her. Tory is a fighter though and she was full of life from her first breath. Tory has grown very slowly and we have had several close calls with
her. With being so tiny Tory has little reserve, every half ounce counts! We have had to hand feed and raise Tory from the first day. Tory was to little to nurse from her Mother, she did not have the strength to fight off her brothers and sisters for milk. Now Tory was never weak, she is a fighter, but her size just wouldn't allow her to remain with her family.
Tory has gained weight weekly, week one she grew from 1.5 ounces to 2.5 ounces. Week 2 she only gained 1.5 an ounces, week 3, 1.5 ounces, week 4, 2 ounces, week 5, 1 ounce, week 6 1 ounce, week 7, 1.5 ounces, week 8, 1.5 ounces, week 9, 2 ounces....So by week 10 Tory is 14 ounces!!!! Tory had done well with her 6 week vaccination, but her 8 week vaccination seemed to really set her
back, and we were gravely worried that she might not make it. But after a couple of days her fight was back. Tory took herself off milk at 6 weeks old. From then on she decided real food only....so she began to eat hard food. She had no teeth but she could swallow it whole! Since then she has grown some teeth....shark teeth
at that, the girl can bite!
Tory loves to go...so she goes almost everywhere with me. Tory never meets a
stranger and loves everyone. She has NO fear of anything...this worries me some.
Tory has recently found her voice and will express her displeasure when not getting her way.....does the word spoiled brat come to mind????
Tory is now 15 weeks old. She weighs 18 ounces. We had a big scare this week. Our cat Isabella knocked off my daily/weekly pill container. I got up one morning and pills were every where on the kitchen floor. There were 9 pills missing, most of the ones that were on the floor had teeth marks....tiny teeth marks....Tory's teeth marks. I put 6 cc of peroxide into Tory, and placed her in the tub. After a few moments up came breakfast, but no pills. Off to the Vet we went.
More peroxide still no pills, fluids, shots, exams and waiting. Still no pills. Here we are 3 days later, lots of vomiting, more shots, fluids, and finally I think we are
going to be ok. We were very lucky, Thank GOD! A lesson learned.
We have added new pics of Tory. These were taken Monday Sept. 6, 2010
Tory is helping Loralrose give birth. Tory was right in the birthing tub, licking and helping with every pup. Tory helped birth 4 boys and 1 girl. I don't know what we would have done without her right in the middle of it all! Loralrose is so patient.
Late October early November have been very hard on Tory. On October 21,
Tory lost Dale. His death was very hard on her as she adored him. She was sitting and looking for Dale every evening, finally she has given up. Tory still sleeps on a shirt of Dale's, I don't know if thats good for her, but she seems comforted by it.
It's hard to see her changing and growing knowing Dale's not here to see it. Tory
was Dale's pride and joy, shortly before his death he said "Of all the Yorkies we have had in our lives, I love her (TORY) the most by far" and it showed.
As of June 1, 2011 Tory is now 1 year old! She has reached a weight of 2 pounds and 4 ounces, and it's all killer. We have added new picks of Tory taken on her first birthday. Tory must love the new house.....she's eating it little by little. The window ledge in the master bedroom will need to be replaced....guess she needed fiber! All in all Tory is wonderful and so spirited. She is a ball of energy and love.
Tory has really helped me get through Dale's passing.
